Who we are

Dirt Werks (registered business name DIRT WERKS) is a sole trader business run by Luke, ABN 58 346 068 875, based in Murwillumbah NSW 2484. Luke quotes every job and operates the machines himself, so he is also the person who reads your enquiry and looks after your details. You can reach him on 0488 987 325 or at dirtwerks@hotmail.com.

This policy covers this website, including the quote form. If you call, text or email Luke instead of using the form, he uses your number and what you tell him in the same way: to reply to you and quote the job. Facebook, iSeekPlant and other sites linked from this one have their own privacy policies.

What the quote form collects

Only your name, mobile, suburb and type of job are needed to send the form. Everything else is optional.

  • Name and mobile number, so Luke can call or text you back.
  • Suburb or town where the job is.
  • Type of job and when you would like it done.
  • Email address, if you choose to give one.
  • Job details you choose to write in, such as size, depth, access and gate width.
  • How you found Dirt Werks, if you choose to say.
  • Up to 5 photos you choose to add, such as a wide shot, the gate or access, and the exact spot.

Technical details and server logs

When you send the form, it also records the page you sent it from and any campaign tags in the web address you arrived on, for example after clicking an ad. Your browser holds those tags only until you close the tab. The form also records your browser and device type, and a scrambled code made from your internet (IP) address. That code is used to limit how many enquiries one connection can send, which blocks spam.

Microsoft, which hosts the website, may also keep standard technical records of visits, such as IP addresses, the pages requested and the time of each request, to run and protect its service. The details the form records are used only to keep the form working and to show which page or ad an enquiry came from, not to build a profile of you.

How Luke uses your details

Luke uses what you send for one purpose: to reply to you and quote your job. That means calling or texting you back, asking about anything the photos don't show, working out which machine suits the access, and giving you a price. If you go ahead, he uses the same details to arrange the job with you.

He won't add you to a mailing list or send you advertising, and your details are never sold or shared with anyone for marketing. Sending the form doesn't sign you up to anything. If Luke ever wants to send you something other than a reply about your job, he will ask you first.

Your photos

Photos help Luke quote without a site visit. Before a photo leaves your phone or computer, the form shrinks it and saves a fresh copy, which leaves out the hidden location (GPS) data that phones often store inside a photo file. Luke uses your photos only to quote and plan the job.

Luke will only publish a photo of your property, on this website or on social media, if you give him separate permission. If you do, he will leave out house numbers, faces and number plates, and the caption will name the area rather than the street.

Where your details are kept, and for how long

Your form details and photos are stored in Microsoft Azure's Australia East region (New South Wales), in private storage that can't be browsed or searched by the public. The website and its form run in Azure's East Asia region in Hong Kong, so your enquiry passes through there on its way to that storage. A copy of each enquiry is emailed to Luke by an automated Microsoft 365 service run by the person who set up and looks after this website for Dirt Werks. The email is sent from that person's business mailbox, so a sent copy is also kept there, along with a short delivery record. The photos in that email open through read-only links that stop working after 30 days.

The website deletes your form details and photos automatically 12 months after you send them. Deleted files can still be recovered for 7 days, then they are gone for good. A spam log that holds only the enquiry reference and the scrambled code, never your name or number, is deleted after 400 days. The emailed copy stays in Luke's inbox until he deletes it. Luke reads every enquiry himself, and Microsoft runs the services that store your enquiry and deliver it to him.

No analytics or ad tracking at present

This website doesn't use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or tracking cookies at present. If any of these are added, this policy will be updated to say what they measure and how you can opt out.

Seeing, fixing or complaining about your details

You can ask Luke what details he holds about you, and ask him to correct anything that is wrong or out of date. Email dirtwerks@hotmail.com or call 0488 987 325, and give him the name and mobile number you used so he can find your enquiry.

If you think your details have been mishandled, contact Luke first and explain what happened, so he has the chance to put it right. If you are not satisfied with his response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). The OAIC also asks people to complain to the business first.

Changes to this policy

If the way Dirt Werks handles your details changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
